Dragster

Edit this event

Dragster are already playing as we enter Soho’s quaint little Borderline club. A raven-haired punkette clad in boots and mini-skirt, pretty but mean looking, belts out a number over the racket of the band’s distorted rumble. The guitarist looks like a cross between Chopper and Mad Max, like a deranged sheep shearer, punishing his instrument for, I dunno, talking to him or something… Which is obviously a good thing. They sound like they look too: a nasty line in suitably abrasive thrash-punk. Good stuff and a fine way to blast out the cobwebs from your ears. Write their name on your exercise book...

When they take to the stage, clad in uniform black, it’s clear that Jack’s Creation are men of rock who like it big and beefy and worship the power of the riff. Jack’s…take the pounding drive of QoTSA-like stoner metal but replace the sludgy depths with the more brash and upfront sounds of the leather trouser brigade. From the churning stoner rock grind of opener ‘You don’t know Jack’ to the more chunky power-chord punk of ‘Jackscreation’, there’s a muted and growling power here behind the macho posturing - bassist Dee’s indoor sunglasses for instance! Debut single 'Moanmoanmoan’ pumps along with the cock rock momentum of Jane’s Addiction or even ‘…Jungle’-era GnR. If you like your rock pure and untainted by garage retro-ism or arty experimentation, or if you’re just looking for a less ludicrous alternative to The Darkness, Jack’s could well be your men.

Jacks Creation + Dragster - London Borderline

I was at this gig. Dragster were very good, Very tough, very sexy singer. Jackscreation were SENSATIONAL! They ripped the place apart. Super strong songs and high octane performance produced the best rock show I've seen this year (of many, believe me). At last, a proper rock band just at the time we need it. Check out their show-stopper "Boomerang", this generation's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or "Bittersweet Symphony": genius. Wanna see these guys again. GOON

I've been following Jack's progress for some time now, but I hadn't been to see them recently.

Put simply, their Borderline gig was a revelation. As a band they seem to have come of age, exuding a confidence and swagger that just screams "Sign us!".

Someone will, and soon.

Re: Jacks Creation + Dragster - London Borderline

I too were there at the borderline gig. Dragster were a super sexy concoction of sleazed out riffs and melodic ballsy tunes. jacks creation looked like accountant types who maquerade as cliched rock stars at the weekend. moan moan moan is by far their best tune but they just found it impossible to follow the energy and star quality of Dragster.

Re: Jacks Creation + Dragster - London Borderline

I have to agree with you mantra. I saw them Dragster)at the Borderline last week supporting Zodiac Mindwarp and thought they were by far the better of the three bands on stage that night. I dont know anything about jacks creation so i cant comment. But girls can rock better than boys if the other night was anything to go by. How can I get any of their stuff?????
