So here I am at a Cooper Temple Clause gig. I feel so out of place. I know that not all Cooper fans look like twats, but there are a few out tonight. But then I guess they thought the same of me when I had purple spikes, rings all over my face and baggy shorts on. Fashion is a nasty business. Anyway, I’m not really here for The Coopers. I’m sure they’re great 'n' all but I’m not interested. I’m here to see Noel Gallagher’s favorite new band. The Rain Band. These are the new kids on the indie block (allegedly) and big things are on the horizon (allegedly). And with hype like that, I could hardly not come along to check 'em out!
Sadly, Noel Gallagher’s favourite band sound exactly how you expect Noel’s CD collection to sound. The singer looks and sounds like a Liam Gallagher impersonator. A good one, but still an impersonator. It's all been done before.** The guitarist did a good job of sounding a lot like John Squire and the drums had a fun, dancey Happy Mondays kinda feel to them.
Like a lot of these hyped bands, you can see the talent's there, you can see why they’re hyped. The Rain Band have some good songs, and I like the sound, but I have the best of The Stone Roses at home and can play Oasis songs on my guitar.
So in conclusion, a good effort from indie's hot new things, but a unique sound would do them more favours than a Gallagher stamp of approval.

Some Questions: Thunderbirds Are Now!
The Rain Band - Leeds Metropolitan University
I'm thinking more like a less-dancey version of The Music sans marmite vocals, replaced by something VERY Mansun. Very, VERY Mansun. I didn't get ti last night when one of my friends was going on about how they sound like Scarlet Soho but now I see why. Because SS sound like Mansun too.
I think they're good anyway.

They were so boring I went to the bar instead. The vocalist whined and the music was just dull.
