This venue is cool.

What more could you want from a Sunday night than the opportunity to sit on leather sofas watching a sex show and two exceptional punk bands? Under the same watchful and haphazard eyes of the people who brought you the Fk the Jubilee festival in hoxton, and the “let’s try to make a car park into a punk venue” festival in …..hoxton, this adventure into south of the river extravaganza seems strangely misguided, as it is a real trial to get to if you are not a resident. Perhaps it is believed that “if you book them, they will come”. (it's really not that hard. 10min walk from the tube! - **ed)

Face are a force to be reckoned with. Mostly unrecognized in London, they straddle the gap between the early Verve and BRMC, employing the methods of noise sedation and psychedelic sense invasion. Dressed to the tune of a bunch of Nottingham Strokes fans, they cut a fine figure of rock and roll debauchery. This complete package of sonic warfare and urban aggression should give them the recognition that they are due. They rock like an F1-11.

Oki-dog are recognized as a shambolic rollercoaster of glam and punk. Mixing glamour from the Blondie school of designer meets charity shop, they look the business. Singer Grace is an oriental sexbomb, with sassy moves and poledancing skills to set hearts and minds racing. Songs crash into each other in a Sonic-Youth-meets-Peaches vein, with lyrics that chase money and sex in a disconcertingly regular fashion. A certain amount of subtlety is lacking, but as anyone who has a copy of their ep will tell you, they have the capabilities to throw out electro, punk and pop as easily as any Fischer-Ikara-Beating could. Watch this space…..
