Your Highness

It's a quiet Thursday night in Highbury. Very quiet in fact, there are less than thirty people milling around the punk rock scout hut that is Upstairs @The Garage when Your Highness take to the stage. The silence is shattered very abruptly. Your Highness are one of Organ's favourite bands and it's not hard to see why. Big dirty rock guitar careers over thuddering basslines and a tunefully screaming female vocal. Essentially it's Hole with more oomph and less theatrics. The quiet bit loud bit formula is deployed efficiently throughout and although in no way original Your Highness certainly have something of a rock bitch from hell quality about them. Thumbs up.

Playing their first gig since their single 'All Stacked Up' threated to bring some sunshine into the lives of Kerrang kids (appearing both in the magazine and on the tv channel) Ciccone have clearly spent the last few months working on new material. The set is 50/50 new and old, with the punkier early material rubbing shoulders with ever so slightly more sanitised guitar pop. As ever miss Rebekah Delgado is the focal point, legs akimbo in a floaty red dress, her arm violently stumming guitar like a pheumatic drill. Guitarist/singer Mick is wandering as far as the tiny stage will let him, throwing the odd rock pose whilst bassist Kev keeps it cool in the rhythm section. Given the lack of atmosphere a near empty venue can result in Ciccone still put in their all, perky, brash, and always fun.
