God Love You For a Liar (formerly Plastik)

Edit this event

First on a Wednesday bill at the Wate Rats is always going to be tough. Plastik shrug off the frustration of playing to ten people hiding at the back with consumate professionalism though. A set of new material awaits, less hysteric, smoother, and in places more than a little reminiscent of Muse. The opening track sounding a little too pop for its own good (think Glitterbug) but things change when new single 'Honey' puts in an appearance. The driving guitar is 100% seventies rock riffage combined with trademark howling eighties vocal. 'Vertigo' (also on their single) is more of the same, though less intense and more reflective. On stage this is all delivered with the impact of a band intent on performing for their thirty minutes like they were playing somewhere far bigger. The energy translates well and by the end the crowd has swelled considerably, success.

Havn't seen this band yet, but have heard stuff from mates, guess I'll have to make the effort now.

Plastik - London King's Cross Water Rats

Nice to see Plastik offering their own style of Rock n Roll. Note to reviewer, I wouldn't say vertigo was "more of the same" ("100% seventies rock riffage combined with trademark howling eighties vocal"), have you heard the song. Its more "Brass In Pocket" ala Pretenders.

Anyway, RRRROOOOOOCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

Plastik - London King's Cross Water Rats

I was at this gig and whilst the reviewer is mildy positive, I have to say that your performance deserved to have people pissing their pants with gratitude!

I bought a cd and, again, I am insensed that you haven't yet recieved the recognition that you clearly deserve. How is it that stale old covers bands a la the Strokes/Hives/Vines X millionsare deemed interesting enough to land themselves record deals? I think people need to stop trying to be fashionable and start actually listening to music...starting with yours!

I won't kiss your arses anymore but i will definitely come and see you as often as you play in London.

Thank Heavens for mercies like you...rock on.

Re: Plastik - London King's Cross Water Rats

I was reviewing the gig rather than the cd so I was reflecting the general impression of their live performance rather than dissecting song by song. Vertigo sounded like it belonged to the same band, it wasn't my intention to imply it was the same structurally to any other though.

Stop I'm blushing, but complements are welcomed!
