The Futureheads

The band, four young chaps from Sunderland in North East England, began life in Barry's freezing garage in November 2000. The name of the band was "more or less" nicked from The Flaming Lips.

In July 2002, they went off on tour round Europe with Milky Wimpshake. Their first release was the 'Nul Book Standard' on Project Cosmonaut Records, released on 7" only.

Later followed a session for Xfm's John Kennedy, who is most certainly one of their biggest fans. In early 2003, they released '1-2-3-Nul!' EP on Fantastic Plastic, following it with 'First Day' (charting at No. 1 in the indie chart), and festival appearences at Glastonbury, T in the Park, Truck, V2003 and Reading/Leeds.»

Good Shoes

Good Shoes are a band. They consist of 4 members: Joel Cox, Rhys Jones, Steve Leach and Tom Jones. They play danceable, shed-rehearsed guitar music. They like to dance, drink, draw, pretend to be on a mobile phone whilst they are not, write songs, and dance. They are based in Morden.»

JOSHUA VON GRIMM - FENDER JAGUAR
COFFIN JOE - BANGS THE DRUMS
SPIDER WEBB - VOX CONTINENTAL ORGAN

Dananananaykroyd

Dischord-esque post-hardcore band, apparently "formed from spacks of Multiplies, Michael Dracula, Kill Yourself, Acrnym and Simplestorm. Fight-pop anthems that are as 'right-on' as they are 'smellin'"»

Rolo Tomassi

A veritable smorgasbord of styles, these female-helmed discotech thrashers specialise in adrenaline-soaked, keyboard-laden art-punk that jerks, jolts and jigs with an ultra-camp temperamentality.

The band's debut self-titled EP was released in late 2006 via Holy Roar and subsequently sold out; a re-pressing featuring bonus tracks is available now.

Edward Dutton - drums
Joe Nicholson - guitar
Eva Spence - vocals
James Spence - keyboards

    Jon Lee - Guitar/Vocals

Nominally Mark Heron's (of Oceansize "fame") side project, Kong throw facemasks, Trencher-esque screaming and taut krautrock rhythms at bewildered crowds of people and expect them to cope. They're brill.

    No Bra

    From Vice magazine -

"...a scinitillating exchange between two useless art fags trying to outdo each other with absurd statements, set to Nitzer Ebbish new beat. Priceless lines include: "I caught syphilis once in Top Shop", "I organised a radical picnic with Kathleen Hanna", "Ethiopians are like Germans dipped in chocolate", "My uncle designed the anal staircase", and the classic "I was cremated once". You're so speaking my language, boyz."

    Damo Suzuki

Singer with Can in the early '70s, Suzuki was a ajor part of the group which concocted the fascinating Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Future Days LPs. His vocal style was unique an inimicable, drifting freely between German, Japanese and English, whilst flowing and conducting the music, rising with its crescendos and flowing with its more delicate ambience. Suzuki continues to tour the world with the help of groups recruited through his online Network (www.damosuzuki.com), playing with different musicians in each city he visits.»
