Love Ends Disaster!

Love Ends Disaster! formed slowly but surely in early 2003 after brothers Jon and Matt Dix put sibling rivalry to one side and found singer Oakes editing a student magazine, growing his hair long and banging on about Tom Waits. Drummer Pete Jones came with a health warning and guitarist Rob Sadler arrived with his finger skills. They began practicing and wrote 'John Majors Megadrive' and live favourite 'TV' as thier first L.E.D! tracks.

They were quickly signed off the back of thier first 4-track demo to Denial Records who recently released thier debut E.P. 'Stories For The Dislocated' in May 2005. It quickly recieved huge praise from Rough Trade, Drowned In Sound, Planet Sound, Unpeeled Magazine and underground fanzines everywhere. The much acclaimed 'Ginko Disco' has been placed on compilations in both the UK and Japan, recieved airplay from XFM and 6Music and has been remixed by one time Kasabian remixer at Electric Cafe.

"The debut 5-track CD E.P. from Love Ends Disaster! has the same listening sensation we got when we heard the first Bloc Party 7". It's 5 sharp 3 minute bursts of post punk that recall the jangling guitars of the Postcard-era / The Wedding Present, the vocals of Pete Murphy from Bauhaus, the melodies of the Psychedelic Furs and in track 5 they have the new 'Killing an Arab' for this generation. Within the year this band will be massive. We've not been wrong before." - Rough Trade

From hearing only the 5 songs released on the E.P. the press have so far referenced over 35 different bands to describe Love Ends Disaster! Some iinclude: Talking Heads, Squeeze and British Sea Power to Muse, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur JNR. The wonderful aspect of the band is that no-one knows whats about to happen next. Each song different from the last and each minute different from the one before, yet keeping the hooks and melody intact to produce memorable pop-rock songs. They are heading back into the studio to release a second E.P. with Denial Records this summer. It won't sound like the first.

Model Morning

Model Morning are a dynamic cacophony of soundscape guitars and soaring vocals, with a stomping, inventive rhythm section as their anchor. The guitar influence makes many references to 80’s shoegaze bands, but they achieve a more accessible sound and display more ability to craft epic songs than the majority of their predecessors in that genre. They are unpretentious stadium rock if such a thing can be said to exist. The songs are in places hooky, dark, bitter and pained and they use long crescendos to great effect, building songs from almost nothing to blistering walls of noise and harmony.

After touring and recording as a bass player with Mute band Echoboy, Chris Moore decided it was time to take what he had learnt from "pure musical genius" Richard Warren and apply it to the creation of his own band. The result was Model Morning, formed by Chris and fellow guitarist Rob McCleary during late summertime 2004.

Old friend and previous bandmate Peter Morley was recruited as singer, along with bassist Richard Davidson and drummer Jez Minton. The Nottingham five-piece share a love of early 90's shoegaze crossed with new bands of today such as Boxer Rebellion and Amusement Parks On Fire.

Nine months were spent locked away in a basement writing and recording twenty songs all of which were completely engineered and produced by Chris and Pete. Six of these appear on Your Worst Enemy.

Live, the fledgling band has an extraordinary presence. Their arrangements seem surprisingly simple, but complexity and thought lie beneath the surface. The five members work so well together musically, complimenting each other and opening spaces for the songs to soar. Its not easy to pin point an exact genre that the music falls into. There are big shoegazey guitars but with pounding almost dance like drum beats underlining vocals that call to mind Bowie or Bono, or better still, Talk Talk's Mark Hollis. »

Maybeshewill

Maybeshewill are:

Robin Southby - Guitar, Keyboards
John - Guitar, Electronics
Tanya Byrne - Bass, Glockenspiel

A post rock band from Leicester, Maybeshewill sound like Mogwai would if the latter had ever found love in an arthouse cinema. And then were beaten around the head with a keyboard.

Will Lillejord (Vocals/Guitar)
Oliver Chetty (Guitars)

The 'Ive are an infectious blend of acoustic riffs, driving guitar hooks, unmistakable vocals, a solid back line and a now formidable-loyal-large-fanbase following the band around the country.

Their successful self financed release has sold to date over 500 copies in Nottingham, due to this success they are going into the studio to put down more tracks with the Rakes producer Adam Whittaker.

i concur

i concur are a Leeds-based guitar band built on a love of americana and post-rock. They are Tim Hann (vocals/guitar), Toby Page (bass), Chris Woolford (guitar) and James Brunger (vocals/drums).

Hann's lyrics often touch on peculiar subject matter - from the mistakes of South Korean stem cell scientist Woo Suk Hwang ('Decimal Places') to the extinction of the prehistoric crocodile ('Exits Are Blockades') – while their music uses intertwined guitar melodies and a powerful rhythm section to drive songs into crescendos perhaps more familiar to instrumental rock than traditional alternative indie.

Since their first gig in Janury 2007 they have played with the likes of The Twilight Sad, Napoleon IIIrd, David Thomas Broughton and Vessels.
