Hundred Reasons

Hell Is For Heroes

Edit this event

Hundred Reasons *have just reached the, dizzier than usual, heights of *#37 *in the National Singles Charts. They have surpassed the media's expectations of them and this is strange in the trend of hype that has seen Andrew WK, LostProphets 'fail' and the likes of The Strokes and Sum 41 *rise *from relative obscurity much due to extended exposure through big name music magazines and music television channels. Hundred Reasons have managed to do it with the help of their *fans **and not too much else.

Tonight we see Hell Is For Heroes *take position before Hundred Reasons, and a merry treat they do provide. Featuring members of *Symposium, the energetic 4-piece rock out the _far-from-large _Hop & Grape. Their thrusting guitars and formidable singing goes down incredibly well with the crowd. Nobody is caring about a thing because everybody's having a really good fucking time. Yeah! HIFH's blend of rock explodes every so often into a tumultuous concoction of fury, anger and love. It is a beautiful thing.

I watched Hundred Reasons *take stage expecting nothing less than what they gave. Was it boring? No. Expectation can never replace the *feeling *you get when you see a band of this calibre hurling themselves around the stage, which is also far-from-large, playing their hearts out and loving every second of it. The problem with these miniature venues is the surfing of the crowd that is performed by several members of the crowd. This not only can _damage _the crania of members of the front row, but can also _displace _much of the band's equipment found to the forefront of the stage as they mount the stage. Yes - Hundred Reasons paused briefly to *ban the crowd-surfing! People's heads were getting mashed up and all their gear had to keep being put back in place. Oh well. It stopped for a couple of songs anyway. Their carefully balanced set of emo, rock and metal flowed like a giant river. 'Remmus', 'Soapbox Rally' and 'I'll Find You' were all played from their three EPs and they went down a storm. Could they have received any other response? I doubt it. Their encore hardly fooled anybody as they left the stage and came back about 90 seconds later for their last two songs but it still made hearing 'Cerebra' that bit more worth it.

This was another outstanding set from the band that might just form the core of the future of *British *guitar music. It's only a matter of time before *Hundred Reasons *start playing the theatres. Their sound has been proven to fill out these venues during their cracking *support *slots which have added to their ever-increasing fan base. This incessant touring has put them in good stead for when they release their closely-guarded album in the Spring.
