Jesus Jones

Edit this event

It’s been a long time since Jesus Jones *have played on British soil. So, for a small tour to remind Britain how great they once were, Jesus Jones have decided to support the rather average *Wonderstuff *on a small jaunt across these shores. The last time I saw Jesus Jones was in New York, where they seem to be based now, and the gig was shambolic, but great, featuring a lot of material from their current album '_London*_'.

For the British tour though, we get the greatest hits package. From the Italian house meets *Stooges *punk of Move Mountains, through the pop highs of ‘International Bright Young Thing’, ‘Real Real Real’, to the American chart topping ‘Right Here, Right Now’, Jesus Jones remind a somewhat balding audience of their once greatness. It’s a shame that they don’t show how good their new material is though, as 'London' is proving to be one of the best albums the band have done. The lack of new tunes wasn’t a problem though, people were more than happy to *jump *up and down to the techno-stomp of ‘Zeros and Ones’, the epic ‘Idiot Stare’ and set closer ‘Who Where Why’.

Throughout the set, vocalist *Mike Edwards *looked generally surprised at the reaction that his band were getting. In these times of allegedly musical genius (er Coldplay? a better looking Del Amitri), maybe Mike Edwards thought that we’d forget about the great music that Jesus Jones made. Tonight he was proven wrong. Hopefully this will act as a catalyst to *Jesus Jones *back in the UK and showing people how good their new stuff is.
