The Blood Brothers at London ULU, Tue 03 Jul

Review by Mike Diver

Fuck you, hardcore, and your windmill-dancing toss-rag of an admirer: we’re here for a party and it’s what we get...»

Nearest tube: Goodge Street

This is a student venue and thus full of students. The plus side is that the bar is not over-priced. Alas, the beer is provided in flimsy plastic cups.

A fair amount of bands play here. The sound is a bit hit'n'miss.

The Blood Brothers

The Blood Brothers are Jordan, Johnny, Mark, Cody and Morgan. Spawned from the streets of Seattle, the quintet take the hardcore template first laid by Botch, camp it up into a whirling frenzy and spit out rapid-fire bloody murder.

On record inventive and acerbic, live enthralling and entertaining, The Blood Brothers are among the finest hardcore bands around - if you wish to categorise their music as simply hardcore, that is.

The Blood Brothers have toured the UK alongside the likes of Liars, Winnebago Deal and Pretty Girls Make Graves. They took Bullet Union on tour with them in Europe. They are shit hot and YOU should listen to them.

The band have a few side projects on the go, too: Cody plays in Head Wound City, while Mark and Johnny are the core of Neon Blonde (click highlighted text for links).

Albums to date:

This Adultery Is Ripe (2000)
