Now that Hole seem to have disintigrated and Kittie just tend to embarrass themselves, its going to take another group of girls to fill the practically defunct gap in the music world.
Hailing from Birmingham, Twist are four young girls who play like they mean it, look like they mean it and sound as hot as f**k.
Smashing out tunes like Glistening, Picture This and the title track from new EP, 14, Twist have the hard rock girl image going on with low and crunchy guitars to boot. Playing to an excited Dublin Castle, the audience all seem pleased to see them while singing along and keeping a strong eye on the stunning foursome. Lead singer Emma Fox has the charisma and onstage presence of a too-cool-for-skool rockstar, with even the technical hitch of breaking strings on her guitar not affecting her or the music one bit.
Most bands who are first onstage get maybe a quarter filled venue if they're lucky, but for Twist the venue was nearly packed out. With this all going for them, it does make you wonder if anyone else actually came for the other bands. I didn't.
