DiScover Club @ RoTa
DiS DJs, 3 or 4 Magicians, Mandelbrot Set, and Yeasayer
About the venue
Notting Hill Arts Club
Train: Westbourne Park (18 mins)
Paddington (18 mins)
Tube: Notting Hill Gate (4 mins)
Directions: take the tube to Notting Hill Gate, then take the LEFT exit. That's left, the left again. Walk down the road for a few minutes but the place is difficult to find as it's not marked outside... It's next to a hairdresser's and opposite a kebab shop. You will notice it by the big wooden doors and velvet rope outside and probably a bouncer too...
THIS is your MySpace link for information on all upcoming RoTa shows. RoTa is held every Saturday at the Arts Club, from 4 til 8, and is free entry. DiS runs its monthly DiScover Club shows there - check the site regularly for details of upcoming DiScover Club shows.
»About the artists
Public Relations Exercise
Public Relations Exercise are a Leicester based 5 piece. The line up was finalised with the addition of another guitarist in September 2005, however the band have been a functional 4 piece prior to this. P.R.E's music is an intelligent mix of Post hardcore Math-rock and Screamo. Musically based around inventive rhythm's and discordant guitars, layered with penetrative vocals and poignant lyrics. The band's music has been likened to At The Drive-in and The Blood Brothers to name but a few. Having toured for the past year the band are currently back in the studio writing and recording new material set for release in 2006 on Field Records.»
3 or 4 Magicians
- Dan Ormsby - vocals, drums, guitar with...
- Sam Clarke - bass
- Sam Moore - guitar
- Graham Pembrey - guitar
- Mike Lord - keyboard, drums
Mandelbrot Set
Drone-y post-rockers, like Growing with the loudest bits of Mogwai tossed in...
In the words of the label: Mandelbrot Set are a Loud band. They like their drones and Converse-gazing, they like to use sample pedals and to change instruments during sets. But mainly they like to be Loud, and they like to do it differently.
One of them used to be in Hentai; click here for a live review.
The band haven't split. Some members left. But new members have been recruited. Nice.
