Reviews

Lords, Lightning Bolt, Blood Red Shoes at Nottingham Boat Club, Sat 13 May

Review by Jordan Dowling

I'm writing this review 21 hours after stumbling out of a venue I didn't know existed, in an area several miles away from any I've visited. My ears are still clouded with a liquid wave of distortion, and several bruises pockmark my hands. I've had a first date with the Brians, and like the rest of the sold-out crowd, I'll never be the same.»

Lords

Crazy blues-fuelled riffage!

Take some Beefheart, liberally splash some contemporary DC punk spunk about the place and voila: Lords. Kinda. Suffice to say this band is both odd and very rocking.

Lightning Bolt

Double-fast experimental noise duo comprising of drummer Brian Chippendale and bassist Brian Gibson...info@laserbeast.com

Their live show is beyond belief. What with Chippendale drumming faster han most men can do anything, let alone drum; and the fact that they play in the middle of the floor and not on the stage means that the crowd pulsates continuously while constantly treatening to collapse onto the drums or Gibson's bass. Security hate it, punk rock mate...yeeeah.»

Blood Red Shoes

The following was adapted from the band's biography which can be found on their website...

Blood Red Shoes are a band from London and Brighton, UK. They are two people: Laura-Mary (wishes she was Spanish) and Steven (wishes he was French). They play guitars and drums and they sing.
