Edit this event

It has been almost a year since Scottish electro duo Motormark played Essex (at this very venue, in fact) and a lot has happened since then, not all of it for the better.

As he takes the stage, enigmatic guitarist/whirling dervish Marko PoloRoid is only at "Ninety per cent" as he is still recovering from injuries suffered on the band's recent tour of France. With this in mind, you could not help but worry that maybe - just maybe - the energy will be turned down a little for tonight's performance. Is it bollocks.

Cracking the set open with the anthemic 'We Are The Public', the band are at their best, destroying all within their sight (including the front row when Marko comes to visit), ably backed with their Casio-fuelled sonic assaults. New track 'Warhol' gets an airing - it's as catchy as Loctite flypaper with its thumping 180BPM bassline and dirty, crunching guitar riffs. Imagine Helen Love giving in to Atari Teenage Riot's dark side and you're on the right track.

Closing out with the most unique cover of The Kinks' 'You Really Got Me' you'll (n)ever hear, the duo almost skulk offstage. Most of the audience stare in disbelief, but the rest are baying for the band to return and immerse us in their addictive electro filth. Job done for Jane and Marko on their march to the masses.
