Econoline, An Emergency, DJ Das Gink, DJ CrabbyCrab, Foals, Silver Rocket DJs at Buffalo Bar, Islington, Fri 17 Feb
It’s strange: to look at the four people on stage, shuffling nervously into the positions they’ll maintain for the next thirty minutes, you’d think this was their first-ever show before an audience of paying punters, past ‘gigs’ in front of sympathetic friends and family still fresh in their minds...»

About the artists
Econoline
Econoline, having stolen their name from a popular US make of transit van, have been around for over a year now. Their choices of touring partner to some extent help to map out their musical territory: Reynolds, Hirameka Hi-Fi, The Oedipus, Wolves of Greece and the Monsoon Bassoon amongst others. Surviving the loss of drummer Tom Emmerling (replaced most recently by Valentina Magaletti), Econoline's 'Breakfast of Champions' single was recently lauded by the NME and awarded Single of the Week, which makes them at least as good as Eminem.»
An Emergency
An Emergency are clevely-constructed indie-flecked post-hardcore formed from the remnants of various Exeter bands, predominantly Tyler, and newly signed to the splendid Captains Of Industry label.
The trio are: Ben W, Dan R and Tom D.
Their MySpace page can be found here.

Foals
Combining poly-rhythmic Casio guitars, pulsing analogue synth, aching vocal melodies and chopping drum-lines, Foals create organic agitated dance-pop with a tangible air of achieving the impossible. This is accessible techno for kids who hate techno but love guitars.
The band is:
Yannis Philippakis
Jack Bevan
Jimmy Smith
Edwin Congreave
Walter Gervers
