iLiKETRAiNS

I Like Trains, or iLiKETRAiNS, offer the sort of fragile beauty that would melt the most frozen of hearts. The five-piece melded together over a love of music ‘progressively English and glacially Icelandic’.

The Kull

  • Andy Shipley - vocals, guitar
  • David Startin - guitar
  • Matt Holt - bass
  • Daniel Greatorex - drums

Formerly known as White Noise - check old profile here, with a demo review.

The Kull was formed in the summer of 2004, when they started to piece together their own identity bringing forth influences such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, PJ Harvey, The Pixies and the best part of a live performance from The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, sonically spawning an aggressive and melodic set.

The Kull spent the rest of 2004 wrecking it live at venues across the country. Their shows picked up a reputation as explosive and exciting, snagging them shows at venues such as The Garage and The Barfly in London and one or two underground warehouse gigs that had seen the new direction that the Nottingham scene was heading towards.

The New Year of 2005 began with the band going into the studio. This saw the band converting their rehearsal space into a fully fledged studio. They set about writing and recording new material such as their debut single 'Tic Tac Toe' and the Aquarius B-Number 'Miss UK'.

The Kull are ones to watch out for in 2006, pencilled in their diaries already are shows all over the U.K - from Sean McLusky's Shorditch shindig on March 3rd - in association with Vice magazine - to playing the post-launch Drowned In Sound Night @ Nottingham's Cabaret on March 11th.

Combining enviable immediacy and presence, The Kull instantly cement their hold on transfixed audiences; making themselves loudly and exuberantly known. The Kull have proved that they're a raw, breathless mind-melt of pure adrenaline, their sound being a massive fully formed wall of densely packed power. »
