What the fuck?
Seriously, what the fuck is this shit?
Pure Reason Revolution could be the most pointless band in the history of the world, ever.
People in indie dens probably shouldn’t throw mortars or be caught up in style over substance, but there is nowhere else to start. Bands on major labels, with managers who aren’t blind and dressing rooms which contain mirrors should no longer have such rubbish Stones-feathered haircuts done by their mums. Did seeing Jet on What Sadie Did Next teach us nothing? And to make matters slightly less bad, they hide behind some great projections because they look like sweet-bracelet wearing BiS fans who’ve grown into stage barrier hugging Cooper Temple Clause nerdlingers.
Clearly Yes and Tool DVDs taught Pure RR something or other. As did being in Barfly circuit haunters Gel. The results, however, are utterly baffling and as atrocious as bombing a city of innocents trying to kill one man whose miles away being a mole in a hole.
After the sixth minute of the first indulgence (which went on for some 10 minutes, as did the rest of it!), it’s only clear that this is the biggest waste of corporate lucre since someone signed The Datsuns for one album, for a million quid. They make pop songs, which stand no chance whatsoever of ever getting anywhere near the radio. I’m completely at a loss unless the sole reason they’ve been signed is because the a&r wants to fuck the girl singer?! Seriously, can someone out there please explain the point of big bland cheesy sounds over plagiarised prog and regurgitated post-rock, when you make music which will never make sense to any short attention span Outkast fan.
If you’re an aging rocker and fancy taking your tarty bleached biker wifey to something she might deem cool, then this band are for you, and you only. Everyone else, fear not! Count your lucky ducks as they’ll be dropped quicker than you can say Menswe@r’s second album!

i've lost all respect for DiS; go fuck yourselves
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
It's about opinions, you know - read other PRR pieces on this site and tell me they're all like this.
See: positivity.
As for comments about this site going downhill, I've got to ask what articles you've been reading; the quality, to my mind, has improved these past six months or so, and continues to do so.
But, like I said, it's all about opinions.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Pure Reason Revolution
This review is absolutely awful. I have to say that I generally like DiS reviews, and have a deep-felt-hatred for 90% of the pretentious wankers who comment on the articles.
But just this once, I am with the majority here. I've never heard anything by PRR. This review does absolutely nothing to put me off them, make me want to hear them, or indeed know anything more about them, other than the fact that they have indie-boy haircuts and used to be in Gel.
A waste of time.

What the fuck is this shit?!
Obviously the writer of this article has shoved so much White Riot up their nostrils that it has not only has it bloked up their whole scinus area but it must have also blocked his urinary track as the amount of piss coming out of their mouth is unbelievable. I was at this gig, and Pure Reason Revolution were fucking awesome. I think it was envy on the writers part as they blew RedJetson right out of the water and they want to bring PRR down in the hope that 'their little band' will rise above them. Redjetson ok some of the music is good, but the vocals are lack luster and boring. Pure Reason Revolution are miles ahead of 'your' band so when you next look up from your mirror with your note in hand do us all a favour and rack yourself up another line and leave the music journalism to someone who can actually do it!
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Don't bother signing up for a single post that comprises another meaningless rant against some guy/girl you've never met and have a differing opinion to.
Worthwhile posters are welcomed; this is pointless.
Go vent your spleen elsewhere, street teamer.
I assume you are one...?
Pure Reason Revolution
I normally come to this site and read reviews and thats it, but this made me sign up to air my view, because it is the most amount of complete gobshite i have read in a single article.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Welcome aboard.
Pure Reason Revolution
Whoever did write it makes themselve look pretty silly obsessed as they are with the band beng on a major label (Sony) and unable to get airplay.
There must be at least three references to 'corp funds'. So what? It's the same label as Mew. The Kaisers are funded by Universal. Bloc Party by V2.
And when was the last time The Mars Volta got 'airplay'? Can anyone envisage people driving home with Redjetson or I LIke Trains buffing their radios? Of course not.
Pure Reason Revolution are a great band, it just takes a little more thinking to understand it than some people sadly have.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
But this :'it just takes a little more thinking to understand it than some people sadly have' is quite stupid !
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
A long time ago I accepted that some people will like what we do, others won't. The same goes for any band - it's all about opinion.
I feel uncomfortable with people trying to turn the show at the ICA into some kind of PRR Vs redjetson show, as it was absolutely not. There is no bad feeling whatsoever between our two bands and we're really very very happy that PRR invited us to play with them - we're really grateful.
It's a shame that 'fans' want to try and turn it into a competition. Of course, people may not agree with the DiS review and that's fine.
The above review has nothing to do with redjetson and as Mr Diver said, it's all opinion. If your opinion is that PRR are awesome and we suck, that's perfectly valid, but please don't try to make out that our bands are in competition. We just want to play some shows together and hopefully the audience will get something out of it.
Why can't we all just accept that people have differing opinions and get along?
Pure Reason Revolution
Pure Reason Revolution
It seems a shame to me that someone can get so angry about music. That review had all the substance of the kind of argument I'd have with rival football fans after six pints of lager.
Good luck to PRR and sympathies to the article author.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Pure Reason Revolution
The reason I said I have lost respect for DiS is because the level of inconsistency displayed on DiS is laughable. One minute you're praising PRR to the point of worship, the next you're calling them "shit" and "pointless"...don't you have editorial meetings?
PRR are great, we should be happy that a major label is backing something so unconventional, not eagerly awaiting their demise.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
As for inconsistency, you may notice their reviews have been written in the past by different people.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
I always thought that this was the beauty of DiS - it's not run by Mr Big who tells the writers what to think/write and which bands to love/hate - it's REALISTIC that different writers have differing opinions! I like that.
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
they were really good, and i went to this gig on the basis of their performances supporitng mew....
...AND their single, 'bright ambassadors' (which got 5/5 in a DiS review)
This is an awful review.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution
PRR
Honestly, what's the point of writing reviews like this? If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Here's a band who aren't afraid to make music that's a bit different, that isn't to everyone's taste, and you slate them. I've seen the band twice, and both times they were great.
I just wish there was a website where reviewers were reviewed, because you'd be for it.
Thankyou and goodmorning
Re.
I want to read the opinions of someone who writes well. Depending on how well they write is how much I will consider what they say.
