The Wizard of Rock - need I say more?
This is a fully kitted out fully clothed wizard in wizard gear from another dimension. Surrounded by mystery he materialises at house parties in Toronto around the strike of midnight.
With him he brings a smoke machine a drum machine a sampler, some cut up classic rock samples and rave beats and baselines - quite possibly the best drunken party MC ever and a Toronto underground legend.
Remember being a little kid and seeing a magic show at your friend's birthday party? This is magic for grown ups. Magic presented by a 1000-year-old rave MC in a cloud of smoke to a packed room of confused awe-struck hipsters.
Some of them don't get it - some of them are lame excuses for humanity - many are entranced by the rock. If Gold Chains came to the party even Gold Chains would bow down in awe of the Wizard of Rock.
So, forget the Arcade fucking Fire, forget insipid, worthy fucking indie rock, this is the one Canadian you don't want to miss. But probably will, unless by chance you happen upon the right part of Toronto's space-time continuum for his next appearance!

Wizard of Rock
i saw him perform last night at the Roncesvalles annual street festival. After a weekend of 'old fart' music blasting in my windows (country, oom pah pah, blues, van morrison, elvis...) he was like a breath of fresh air. I laughed and smiled like I haven't done in months. the wizard of rock restored my faith in humanity.
