Emo is still most definitely In. Amongst the most faux-punk-chic of crowds swarms an unenviable place to be: a really rather hardcore circle pit. The limbs that flail through windmills, clotheslines and other such fabled garrotting techniques do not rest well with the just-teen fraternity and the carefully cured hairlines and fingernails lie less than gently out of the way. This slight social avoidance has come to occur because *Johnny Truant *are on the stage now, conveying every atrocity forth over this youthful crowd of the nu-fashionista. It is patently clear that this band is not about anything but the music. *Olly Mitchell *menaces the crowd, thrashing his microphone til kingdom come, stalking the frontline of the war he sees in front of him but his bandmates remain relatively anonymous but for the striking grooves and hardcore vehement thrust easily to the furthest reaches of the venue. Job done. They leave satisfied, having satisfied.
Alexisonfire *are one of those horrible emo bands that have a crap derivative name and who all the crap emo kids love. Except they’re not that bad at playing their music. Sure, there’s a hundred better bands out there but that’s not always the thing to look for. I mean even Coldplay are better (this is true) but I’d much rather see *Alexisonfire (this is not true but I’m going to argue the case for The Kids who would) because basically they are very fun. The bassist, *Christopher Steele *is the craziest dancing fool you might see on a Saturday night at an emo gig. He only dances with his right leg and that is pretty mental, you have to agree. I can’t really give any other reasons why you ought to go see this band other than they were quite fun and the bassist is mental and dances with one leg. Alexisonfire are emo. Dreadfully rehashed, but not refurbished, emo. They have the singer and the screamer. That is about it. *Johnny Truant *were great, though.
