I don’t care if it's full of hip, young, media types, they still look like gits and The Social on Little Portland Street is still one of the worse places to watch a gig this side of Leicester Charlotte. Thankfully tonight The Tailors are gracing W1 with their lilting, countrified presence and for the duration of their short set the surroundings matter not. The rambling ‘Backslap Club’ and the catchy ‘A New Hairdo’ neatly showcase the band’s precision, whilst ‘Your Voice’ sounds sweet, wandering and longing - despite being complimented by a girl whose laugh almost made DiS emigrate.
It seems that along with a selection of fine, melodic gems, The Tailors - in all their chequered shirt glory – have already built up an extremely enthusiastic fanbase (their current line up having only been together since the summer). The rapturous response from the crowd is, of course, justified and with their take on The Breeders' ’Do You Love Me Now’ coming to a bounding end, this band are obviously extremely happy making the music they want to make. And with The Libertines implosion seemingly complete, 2005 may be the year that forces 'London Calling' back onto the shelf and 'The Band' firmly onto the turntable. Happy Days.
