Add N To (X) at Birmingham Academy 2, Sat 14 Dec

Review by Christopher Lloyd

“You’re not singing, you’re not singing, you’re not singing anymore”….. There it is, as sang on Monster Bobby. A song which wasn’t played at Birmingham Academy. In fact, neither were a lot of the more vocal ‘songs’ from the futu-robotic sex noiseniks we know and love as Add N to (X). You see the probl»

Redlightsflash, 5 Knuckle at Birmingham Academy 2, Mon 14 Jul

Review by Mat Hocking

No offence to any of my Brummie / West Midlands friends here, but there must seriously be something in the Brummie water that makes it such a depressingly dull and soul-destroying place to be. Hell Is For Heroes, The Lucky Nine at Birmingham Academy 2, Wed 10 Dec

Review by Anthony Gibbons

Four songs in and Justin Schlosberg is crowdsurfing already, and thrown back on stage where he will try to climb the sweat drenched walls before giving up, and hammering the floor in frustration. Intense? You better believe it...»

Reading 2002 - Soulwax

Soulwax at Birmingham Academy 2, Sat 30 Oct

Review by Christopher Lloyd

On the right night Low can reduce a crowd to tears, but would the obstacles set in front of them be too great? Only time would tell.»

Rise Against live

Rise Against, Berri Txarrak, A Wilhelm Scream at Birmingham Academy 2, Sun 10 Sep

Review by Mat Hocking

It may have taken a few years but the Mystic Megs among us have foreseen the ascension of punk-rock’s political arm for a while now. With the world’s super-powers and their cozening military campaigns descending into near-chaos and absurd religious bickering tearing the heart out of our societies, it seems there’s more than ever for these bands to sink their teeth into - and an ever-growing legion of inquisitive young minds desperate for some direction, too... »
