Velocity
Velocity Recordings is a record label that might be currently small in funds but has a huge passionate pumping heart. A record label that has put out great music, and will always put out great music. We have not released a bad record and we are not going to start now.
We care far too much. We are music fans and will always be. We believe in rock and roll. We believe in dreams coming true. We believe in you. We believe in magic. We know that anything is possible. We are living the dream.
Inspired by such people/labels/bands as Alan McGee/2Tone/David Geffen/The Clash/Mudhoney /Sire/Public Enemy/Sub Pop/Rick Rubin/Martin Heath/Sarah Records/Def Jam/Sex Pistols/Anthony H Wilson/Creation/The Velvet Underground/The Undertones/Tony Defries/Jimbob & Jim Morrison/Tommy Boy Records/Soul Sonic Force/Motown/Seymour Stein/Earache/Slayer/Sympathy/David Bowie…
Out of sheer boredom and frustration the record label was born late 2000, also the SugarComa demo came via the post and blew our ears off. Our first release was their classic debut single offering Blisters. It blew up- was it going to be this easy? It was awarded single of the week by Kerrang! and Melody Maker. Rave reviews from wide ranging publications such as Music Week to Terroriser. World radio play followed.
It sold very, very well and the band moved over to Zomba/Music For Nations. Is it that easy? Sometimes yes-other times no. That is half the fun. It is an adventure putting out records-you never know what is going to happen. Is ‘Blisters’ our best release to date? Probably not: all our releases are excellent, too...
