Started in 1989 by Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan (who later went on to form Superchunk), Merge started life in Chapel Hill, NC forging good relationships with local labels such as Touch & Go.

Having now celebrated their 15-year anniversary, Merge have a lot to be proud of, playing host past and present to such bands as The Arcade Fire, Spoon, Trail Of Dead, Lambchop, Neutral Milk Hotel & The Magnetic Fields.
