Introduction
Yeasayer (pronounced /?je?se?.?r/) is an experimental band based in Brooklyn, New York. Live performances sometimes include trippy, psychedelic visuals projected in the background.
The band members are Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, and Ira Wolf Tuton. They describe their music as "Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel".
The band first came to national attention after appearing at the SXSW festival in early 2007.
Their first single consisted of the tracks "Sunrise" and "2080".
Yeasayer toured with MGMT and Man Man during the spring of 2008 in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe. They have also played the Hove Festival 2008 , Lollapalooza 2008 in Chicago's Grant Park, Austin City Limits Festival 2008, Reading/Leeds Festival 2008 on the NME/BBC1 stage, at the Pavillion Stage at Roskilde Festival 2008, at Pitchfork Music Festival 2009, provided support to Beck on the European leg of his Modern Guilt tour in Summer 2008, played at Bonnaroo in 2009, and performed at Rock the Garden 2009 in Minneapolis' Walker Art Center.
The band was featured on episode 47 of XLR8R TV and have also performed a public, a cappella concert, a "Take Away Show", on the French metro in February, 2008, filmed by Vincent Moon of The Blogothèque. Additionally, The band's song "Sunrise," was featured in the credits of Season 6, Episode 74 of HBO's "Entourage." [2]
Their song "Tightrope" is featured on the compilation album Dark Was The Night which contains many other notable artists such as Arcade Fire, The National and Yo La Tengo.
New Album 2010
Yeasayer recently revealed in an interview with Pitchfork that they had finished their sophomore album and it would be released on January 19, 2010 . There are four new songs they've been playing live; the four new songs are "Madder Red," "O.N.E.," "I Remember," and "Amblin' Alp." Yeasayer has also hinted that they would do something big in October. Many suspect that they will either leak the album or release a single from the upcoming album.
