Biography
New Jersey alt rock quartet, formed in the late 80s under the name Low. They released two albums after their name change on Grass Records, Silver (1994) and Secaucus (1996), before a takeover at the label and subsequent demands for The Wrens to sign a new contract and make more radio-friendly music led to their departure.
The Wrens then recorded a new EP, Abbott 1135 and released it in 1997. They were courted by Interscope, but the deal fell through after their A&R were sacrificed during a corporate merger - we assume that means they lost their jobs, not that there was blood and a big altar.
Finally, seven years after their second album, The Wrens completed The Meadowlands (2003), released through Absolutely Kosher in the US and Lo-Max in Europe. We imagine they're writing a fourth album as we speak.
