Formation
Alfie Jackson and Bryn Fowler established the beginnings of the band and went to a local pub and live music venue on Holloway Road in London called Nambucca. Skipper performed live, A week later, they saw Skipper perform again at the same venue and enjoyed it. They approached him afterwards with an invitation to have a jam session. On October 10, 2004, Skipper and Jackson met back at Nambucca to play. Drummer Dave Danger, who lived above the venue, invited them to play in his room. After an hour, Jackson and Skipper had six songs with guitar and fiddle parts and harmonizing vocals, which they performed. Danger immediately joined the band after hearing them play.
The 2 new members were both introduced to Alfie and Bryn through friends and after a couple of practices they knew they had found a new formula that works just as well if not better than the old one. Mike and Ed are both accomplished musicians who have been impressing crowds at the bands come-back gigs.
Their band name comes from the fact that they all met and decided to form the band on Holloway Road, London, N7.
Music style
Some of the songs of The Holloways are compared to Calypso music. They usually make up tempo music.
A sample of the single "Generator" is used by Fearne and Reggie for their 'New Music Generator' section on BBC Radio 1 at weekends.
