The Fog Band met after thin-trousered, long-shoed, Reading-born Bobby Grindrod was spotted amongst a crowd of pseuds at Bath School of Art by local mop-headed dilletante and Co-op host, Oli Daltrey. Daltrey decided (for no logical reason) that the man at whom he was staring menacingly, was the man he required to front his previously instrumental combo. With this in mind, he began a relentless text-message/phone-call based campaign with a view to recruiting Grindrod into the ranks of The Foggies. Eventually, Bobby relented and joined the band under duress. Despite long-forgotten restraining orders, gaffer-tape, blind-folds and backs-of-vans, Bobby now concedes that joining the band was the only way to end the hassle.

Purr Records released the band's debut 7" EP, 'The Law of the Sea', on limited edition heavyweight vinyl in 2005.
