After their simple, catchy, indie pop hit
'Slight Return' made them one of the star groups of '96 and helped their debut album
Expecting To Fly to number one,
The Bluetones have largely faded from the limelight, with the more experimental albums
Return To The Last Chance Saloon (1998) and
Science & Nature (2000) gaining less eccstatic receptions. 2003's
Luxembourg cemented their descent, failing to make the Top 40 at all. However, they claimed from the start that they would "rather be loved by a hundred people than quite liked by a million" and they have one of the most dedicated fanbases in the pop world.
