OK, so we admit we've been a bit slack with continuing the posts of Ólafur Arnalds's Living Room Songs. Yes, there are two more to go, to make SEVEN in total, but there are three which have since passed us by. Anyway, they are nicely collected in here, video links and direct download links all provided, as are song titles.»

At the end of last week Icelandic neo-classic composer Ólafur Arnalds surprised us by announcing Living Room Songs. For those of you familiar with his oeuvre then you will probably remember when he wrote and recorded a free song a day for a week, and turned it into Found Songs. Iceland, it's a good place for music. Established fact. You've no doubt read reams and reams of stuff relating to trolls, waterfalls and a lot of the word "glacial". In fairness, Iceland is full of all three of these things. Still, what do the Icelandic people themselves think about it all? Well, that is the subject of a new mini-documentary made by Manchester-based team A Serious Feather.»

We decided to kick off our 10 Years Of Nordic series on the very week that Iceland Airwaves takes place, for quite obvious reasons. Partly because things like this happen and by "things" I mean "a massive, comprehensive 38-track compilation being given away entirely for free". Pretty good, yeah?»

We don't need to go into all the usual cliches about Icelandic music to tell you that we really love Reykjavik as a city. It's not really necessary and you're probably more than acutely aware of them yourself. Regardless of this fact we thought we'd bring to you the first instalment of 'Sleepless In Reykjavik', which is a project by Gunnar B. Guðbjörnsson and his brother Hlynur Guðbjörnsson.»

What is being offered to you now, however, is a free track from the album, called 'Þú ert sólin'. No, I have no idea how to pronounce it either, but it's a beautiful thing. »
