BLOC Weekend: The DiS Review

In Depth by Rory Gibb

Butlins Minehead has a slightly jarring atmosphere in the middle of the night. Sprawling chalet lots and the cocked arms of fairground apparatus have an unnerving tendency to suddenly loom from the darkness without warning. While ATP’s beardy warmth adds a softer edge to that experience, its intensity is further heightened at BLOC Weekend.»

BLOC Weekend 2011: A DiS Preview

In Depth by Rory Gibb

It’s fair to say that DiS is no stranger to Butlins, Minehead. Given that we try our hardest to attend as many editions of All Tomorrow’s Parties as possible each year. The faint edge of chaos that still runs through ATP, especially late at night, pales in insignificance compared to BLOC Weekend, which tends to descend upon the place like an ode to hedonistic excess. This year’s edition takes place on the weekend of the 11th to the 13th March, though if you’re learning this for the first time, you’re a little late to the party – it’s entirely sold out.»

Spotify playlist: 10 Years of Solo Artists - Part 2: Beats, Bleeps, Björk & Beyonce

In Depth by Sean Adams

I didn't have the attention span to stick to one genre, so in my headphones and on this playlist, there's some lazer-guided missles of misery and really-silly raps and utterly ridiculous bits of yoddelling (O HAI GWEN STEFANI!). This is my voyage through these dizzy digital days and the "solo" artists who pixellated my heart... »

Cut it and play it loud: Dubstep record labels

In Depth by Rory Gibb

One of the most prohibitive – or exciting, depending on your perspective – aspects of UK urban dance music is dubplate culture: the circulation of unreleased tracks between tight-knit circles of producers, which then are played out at club nights. Pro»

armchair dancefloor details the recent electronic releases it's most worth hunting down. In our opinion, that is. We're not god. This time we're also proud to include a mix from 10-20, who's sequenced a half-hour of his inimitable abstract techno solely for your enjoyment. »
