Head Automatica

Bio

[Edit this profile]

Head Automatica are Daryl Palumbo, Jessie Nelson, Jarvis Morgan Holden, Larry Gorman and Craig Bunch.

Palumbo was one of driving forces behind the post-hardcore outfit Glassjaw but didn’t feel that that band could fulfil his interest in other genres such as hip hop and brit pop. Thus Head Automatica was formed when Palumbo and Dan 'The Automator' Nakamura reportedly met at a party. They worked on what would later become the debut album 'Decadance', released Aug 2004, and the other current members were then recruited as a touring band.

In June 2006 'Popaganda' was released, this time being produced by Howard Benson. Without the hip hop sensibilities of Nakamura this album took a more power pop type of sound, citing Squeeze and Elvis Costello as influences.

The once front-man of angsty alt-hardcore band GlassJaw is honest about the album they made: "We didn't want to make a record about pain," he said. "We didn't want to make a record about crying. We didn't want to make a record about being hurt. We just wanted to make a brilliant power-pop record."
