This here internet page is Drowned in Sound's guide to Record Store Day 2013, which comes with a rather special competition. This is far from thorough, it's just some stuff that stood out that we wanted to highlight, which perhaps you might like to consider picking up if it wasn't something already on your radar.»

Hopefully this long list of names and releases gives you a clue about the individuals behind the screens at DiS. I've always thought of the site as being an aggregator of individual opinions, rather than some compromised coherent voice with a contrarian tone. It's near impossible to get music fans to agree on very much, which is why we do our album of the year list a little differently to most sites. We don't just tot up the votes and say what the most popular release was, as music to us isn't a popularity contest. Votes quickly become political, rather than personal and I hate the idea of mob rule. »

We know September's not over, not over, not over yet! However, we have so many things that we're loving at the moment that we thought, instead of putting them all on single pages for you to flick through, we'd do what we have been trialling for the past few months and dump them altogether in one page that you can bookmark and come back to.»

For the sake of laziness, some press releases will be copy-pasted, and for the sake of saving your time (YOLO, etc) the commentary will have a brevity pithiness that I hope screams "we let the music do the talking"»

A little competition for you...
Last year, a sweet little film featuring Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek) and Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson) as a young married couple, caused quite a stir, not least because it featured a soundtrack by DiS favourites Grizzly Bear. The film is out on DVD in the UK as of today, and we have 5 copies to give away.»

The initial batch of headliners for this year's 2010 Latitude Festival has been announced and...it's pretty good all in all. Headlining the Obelisk Arena, which is the main stage, over the course of three days will be Florence + The Machine, Belle & Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. Just marginally underneath those three on the bill for that stage are Empire Of The Sun, The Maccabees and fast-fingered duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela.»

DiS is back from the seaside… sadly.
