Earlier this year, DiS' favourite anthemic Scottish indie-rock band Frightened Rabbit released their fourth album Pedestrian Verse. Rather than sending the band some inane questions, we thought it would be far more interesting to ask that rather eloquent so-and-so Scott Hutchison to keep a diary for us, documenting their adventures in the US of A. We also borrowed some of their Instagrammed shots from the road... »

There’s a Finnish focus to this years Eurosonic Noorderslag event, which kicks off today in a
far flung corner of the Netherlands. The festival, which is a bit like SXSW if you substitute the Texas
sunshine for Holland in January, acts as a superb annual showcase and cross pollination of some of
Europes best and most hyped new acts, attracting industry bods from across the continent. John Peel
was a regular attendee, and that’s as glowing an endorsement for a focus on new music as you could

Tonight, in Edinburgh, DiS-favourites Frightened Rabbit are playing a special show, as their original 3 piece line up, playing their debut album Sing The Greys. The album was originally released as a limited edition run of 1000 copies, on this day back in May 2006 (yes, that is five years ago) before getting revamped, re-mixed, re-mastered and re-released on Fat Cat. Seeing as it's fresh in his mind ahead of tonight's show, we asked singer and writer of the songs, Scott Hutchison to walk and talk us through the album, track-by-track... »

I've been hearing people talking up Rockness as better than T In The Park. One cursory look at the line-ups for both festivals will tell you this isn't true, at least in the quantity and sheer size of artists playing, but what Rockness can boast is an atmosphere to match TITP in scaled down format, with a greater emphasis on DJs and dance acts. The organiser's boast that it is 'the most beautiful festival in the world' is entirely vindicated by the picture postcard view of Loch Ness and the lush glen spreading out behind the main stage, with the weather mostly brilliant sunshine.»
