Where did this week go? And how on earth have we managed to get to number 66 in our Spotify series of weekly playlists wot act like a hyperlink-laden cover mount of what we've covered on the site this week? Time, it really doth fly. Anyway, Luke has taken this whole Nordic week thing a bit far and disappeared to Finland, so you're left with me making a playlist, insert your hatred in the comments section below or yuhknow, maybe just say something nice about something you think should have been on this playlist.»

Putting this playlist together I was reminded that the poignancy of many of these songs comes from that single-mindedness that only an individual with something to say or a deep well of emotion to share, is capable of. Love, hate and the precarious life vs. death battle looms large. For some of the artists on this playlist, life was too much and they didn't make it to 2010 but don't let that put you off because there's a human spirit in all of these songs (save for the few that are that little bit alien or divorced from any known reality). It's a spirit that will lift you on your best days and cradle you on your worst. »

We considered taking the day off and not bothering with this week's content-based Spotify playlist, what with today being a bank holiday and all. But we thought better of it. We're servants to you. And you'll get more chance to listen to it if you're at home, anyway.»

Welcome to Friday. A marginally more beefy Spotify playlist for you this week, mainly on a whim. Enjoy it while it lasts. Plenty of highlights this week, though, including a lovely piece from the armchair dancefloor column, and a rare chance to hear Roy Harper.»

DiS' founder and current editor Sean Adams compiles a playlist of songs that could be heard in the year 2000 (a rough theme we've set for you to build a Spotifriday playlist around - more details here) when this very website was in its embryonic stages. First, a bit of prologue...»

Ever since 'Love Is All Around' by Wet Wet Wet topped the charts on the back of its appearance in top British rom-com Four Weddings and a Funeral, DiS has always had a special relationship with films and their incumbent soundtracks. Here, resident hack Gareth Dobson drew the short straw and was charged with musing on those special moments where celluloid and acetate can create something wonderful...»

We're compiling a phat list of videos we would like shown on MTV2's 120 Minutes, especially ones you'd almost never see. What we'd like is for you to suggest some of your favourite videos of the past six years (with links to youtube.com or Google Video, if you can find them) and say why you like it. Why? Because we'll be running quotes from you lovely people across the screen when our selections are broadcast...»
