Charakka

CHARAKKA are a 5-piece band, currently based in Essex. They have been a regular fixture on the London gig circuit for over a year, with their previous demos resulting in interest from a number of independent record labels.

More recently they have been voted by Outline magazine as one of the 2 best live bands in East Anglia in the ‘Young Musician of the East’ awards, and have been selected by fresh-sounds.co.uk from hundreds of demos as one of the 10 best unsigned bands in the country, to play at Shepherds Bush Empire on 19 March. With this new self-written/produced/recorded demo and with a strong following of up to 100 at London dates it is a very exciting time for the band.

INFLUENCES AND SOUND

The music takes influences from psychedelic rock’n’roll such as Led-Zeppelin and the Doors as well as dance acts such the Chemical Brothers and Lo-fidelity Allstars. The mix of dirty guitars and soulful vocals with groove-heavy electronica creates the distinctive charakka sound.
