Introduction
Brightblack Morning Light (formerly Brightblack) is a band based in New Mexico, specializing in permutations of folk rock and psychedelic music. The group is based around the core duo of Rachael Hughes and Nathan Shineywater.
Biography
Founded by Naybob Shineywater as he was living in a tent "against babylon system," while rehearsing with Alabama friend and pianist Rachael Hughes, BRIGHTBLACK MORNING LIGHT has opened for Os Mutantes, Vashti Bunyan, Laurie Anderson, My Bloody Valentine and played their own rural curated Northern California shows with Joanna Newsom, Espers, Ramblin'Jack Elliott, Sunroof!, Vetiver, Devendra Banhart & Noah Georgeson, Gojogo, Lavender Diamond and Vermont collective Feathers.
BBML have also curated San Francisco's Noise Pop at Great American Music Hall, played festivals in Norway, Sweden, Spain, and UK with several other lounges played in Scotland, Brussels & Denmark. The band has toured since 2005.
