Biography

Introduction

Alberta Cross are a New York-based band, signed to Ark Recordings, home to bands such as Magic Wands, Sparkadia and Turbo Fruits.

The band was formed by Petter Ericson Stakee (vocals, guitar) & Terry Wolfers (bass). Despite their different upbringings - Petter travelled from an early age between Sweden and England with his singer-songwriter father whilst Terry was brought up in London's East End - they share a mutual love of music.

They were joined by Petter’s brother John Alexander Ericson on organ to record their self produced debut 'The Thief & The Heartbreaker'. Their sound has been compared to Kings of Leon, The Band, Neil Young, The Raconteurs and other blues influenced rock bands.

They have toured extensively around the UK, performing with bands like The Shins, Bat for Lashes, Simian Mobile Disco and played the Latitude tour with Findlay Brown in summer 2007. During October 2008 they supported Oasis on their UK arena tour; playing at both Bournemouth and Cardiff. They appeared at the Coachella Valley Music Festival on Friday, April 17th, 2009. In June 2009, they were the support for The Dave Matthews Band at the O2 Academy, London. They performed at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN, which was held June 11-14, 2009. The band also appeared at the 2009 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, IL, on August 9th, 2009.

Their first full length album Broken Side of Time is slated to be released in September of 2009.
