The history of the band stretches back to JC's old noise outfit, Urge. Paul met JC when he joined that band as drummer. After gigging relentlessly, & cutting the trashy post-punk E.P's, Century Incinerator and Made Of Wires, Urge called it a day.

Then... the actives were formed from it's ashes!

JC had spent a year writing new material and developing new ideas. During this period, he and Paul held meetings and realised they shared a similar vision when it came to the sort of cool music they wanted to perform. (And both shared a love for Polish hard house)

After agreeing to record a couple of JC's new songs, to act as a 'creative trial' the decision was made that they should form a new band, and active-M was born!

Anna joined as bass guitarist after finding herself drawn to the sound that JC and Paul were generating...she now wants to make the world a better place and wear fancy dress all day. She replaced Emma-Lee & Kaz Brown who both left the band for personal reasons in early 2004. 3 bass players in 3 months - (this is Spinal Tap!)

Ernie ran towards the drum stool and said 'don't start what you cannot finish' - his beats are pound for pound cool energy - just don't ask him about 'Razzler!'
