Liverpool’s angular, twisted guitar-poppers 28 Costumes have had a remarkable ascent since signing to Spank Records in summer 2003.

After a much-vaunted appearance on the Inner City Sumo compilation album (which gathered reviews from the likes of Record Collector, NME, Q) the band’s punishing gig schedule round the UK has led to the Cossies building up an extensive and loyal fanbase, including Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio One, Janice Long on Radio 2 and Tom Motorway’ Robinson and Phill Jupitus on 6Music are confirmed fans of the band, and have played the tunes on the radio machine.

Following the success of the limited release singles ‘Hurricane’ and '21 Years', the Cossies released their debut album The Fake Death Experience on Spank Records in November 2004. The album became a favourite with reviewers, and has been featured in magazines from NME to Record Collector to Artocker and national newspapers from The Independent to The Daily Star.

Since then, the Cossies have written and recorded a second album, Adventure Stories, which was preceded by one of the singles of the year, 'Inside/Outside', and 'You Excite Me' on Spank Records.

Team 28c and Spank have since parted company, but their search for a new label in 2007 should be aided by a confirmed appearance at the massive SxSW festival in Texas.
