Wenger storms off down a tunnel and the media start circling knowing that after 3 years of teetering on saying as much, Arsene's reign is coming to an end. In truth though, it wasn't so much about Arsenal imploding for once, more Bayern just being fucking beautiful to watch. There was a 20 minute spell in the second half where every single pass pushed them forward another 10 foot, left a defender out of position and blew open huge areas of space for their midfield maestros to fully exploit. The prospect of these guys up against Barca or Madrid looks tasty. Arsenal worked hard but in truth, only Wilshere again looked like he had any ideas when confronted with a bank of players in front of him. There are some great players in that side, but their attack from the front philosophy just doesn't seem to work against this new era of top European sides.
Incidentally a ticket last night for that game cost £94. A season ticket at Bayern is £2 more.
Porto take a 1-0 lead in their leg too.
Goal line technology WILL be used at the next World Cup. More importantly it means someone can now sponsor it.
Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle all stand decent chances of progressing in the other Cup tonight. Liverpool have a bit to do.
Cardiff begin their quest to miss out out on promotion for the 17th year in a row but losing 2-0 to Brighton.
The mighty Southend are at home with a 1-0 lead over Orient in the second leg of the JPT Trophy. Wembley (and most likely Crewe) awaits for the winner. Exciting. Be nice if we had more than 3 fit players though.
