In which I rank London Evening Standard writers
Brian Sewell - yer in the wrong gig mate
Richard Godwin - THEY THREW A SOP TO THE LEFT but a very decent sop at that
Roy Greenslade - well, he did teach me, and he's a genuine expert on journalism
David Sexton - an above-average cultural correspondent
Andrew Neather - another sop to the left! and another decent one
Tom Collomosse - the only good sportswriter they have
Anthony Hilton - rarely do I agree with him but a decent business writer
Rosamund Urwin - has her ubiquitous bugbears but usually argues with alacrity
James Fenton - I do like 'View from America'
ok now there's a vague gap - anyone I missed out, including Faye Maschler and Anne McElvoy who I never read anyway, is found somewhere here
Sarah Sands - entertainingly Tory, unlike the others
Sam Leith - dorkish droning enlivened by the occasional good analogy
James Fenton - identikit Cityboy
James Olley - not gonna forgive him for the amazing misogyny of a piece he did about Allardyce a while back
Sebastian Shakespeare - ugh
Steve Cording - possibly the cheesiest sportswriter on Earth
Dan Jones - possibly the WORST sportswriter on Earth, my god
Matthew D'Ancona - everything he ever writes can be summed up in his thumbnail portrait
The Metro has better writers, on average. Marina O'Loughlin especially, although their film reviewer, Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, isn't bad either
