post-Euro 2012 thoughts/votes thread...
BEST MATCH:
Probably Sweden v England or Russia v Czech Republic, but quite enjoyed Russia v Poland and Croatia v Spain. No classics, to be fair.
BEST PLAYER AFTER PIRLO:
I imagine every single one of us would say Pirlo was the best player (bar possibly a couple of needy bisexuals/^this fanciers) simply because he was (cue some absolute Clive saying Iniesta was better). Him aside, who do you think was the best player? I enjoyed watching Cassano most, but i'd have to give it to Balotelli - excellent in almost every Italy game, extremely mature, some exceptional forward play. Now a £50m player...and then some.
BEST GOAL: Zlatan v France, hands down. Honourable mentions to Kuba's welly and Alba's lung-busting run.
YOUR TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT:
Dunno if there's a huge deal of point doing this as i'm pretty sure we'll all pick, say...Pirlo, Ronaldo, Alba, Balotelli, etc, so if you can't be arsed just say who you'd have in my team instead of Terry & Cassano...
CASILLAS - not one standout 'keeper, i don't think, but a few gudduns. have to give it him for the not conceding a goal pretty much ever.
ARBELOA - far from the weak link some have him down as. actually pretty good defensively.
TERRY - this one might raise a few eyebrows, but honestly thought he was superb for England, admittedly only for 4 games. not sure you just plonk, say, Bonucci or Pique in there just cos they played a bit more.
PEPE - actually not a huge amount of cuntiness and some really quite good defending.
ALBA - splendid throughout, possibly bar one dodgy game. always a danger going forward. great goal in the final.
PIRLO - as overed above, player of the tournament. a wizard. a joy to watch.
SILVA - what more can you say about ths little magician? pure class. if he's not a £100m player i don't know what one looks like. dominated the opposition.
DZAGOEV - big alan chipped in with a few goals, dunno if you saw it.
RONALDO - actually threatened to do it on the biggest stage (admittedly before bottling it on the semi penners)
BALOTELLI - covered above. superb throughout.
CASSANO - might not be in many peoples teams, but i bloody loved watching him. some pretty fantastic movement, with and without the ball.
Shoot...
