Friday Football Fread
Athletic beat Sporting 3-1, thanks mainly to Llorente being fucking awesome, to reach the Europa League final against Athletico Madrid. Lovely, lovely scenes at the end, slightly ruined by Stan Collymore clambering eagerly onto his already overused soapbox and banging on about something uninteresting.
Guardiola expected to announce later on that he won't be renewing his Barca contract in the summer. Big Sam waiting excitedly by the phone and telling anyone who'll listen that he always loved Catatonia.
Sad to see Pep go, but not necessarily a huge shock. Actually wouldn't be that surprised if he never manages again, certainly at club level. Incredible record, but the job never seemed to sit that comfortably with him. English media naturally link him immediately to the Chelsea and England jobs. Because which manager wouldn't want those jobs?
Bielsa installed as early favourite to replace him, which would obviously be brilliant.
Mancini tells French media that United are better than City, he wants Eden Hazard and Nasri could be really good if he listened more.
John Terry will be allowed to collect his medal & do his weird celebration face with the European Cup after all. He's not allowed on the bench for the final though so, in the event of a Chelsea win, his opprtunities to stroll around thumping his bare chest should at least be limited.
Premier League decide not to bother with any handshakes at all in the Chelsea vs QPR game this weekend. Mark Hughes' head may explode.
