Friday Out Of Europe Football Thread
United get played by everyone's favourite new team. Many flashes of individual brilliance, a fantastic volley, impressive teamwork, only a tiny bit of timewasting towards the end in their biggest game so far this season, applauding opposition players for their career rather than their performance and applauding a great Rooney strike, all combined with a mental player ethos and an amazing stadium. Is there anything dislikable about Athletic Club Bilbao: Los Leones (for DK)? I really hope the team stays together and we get to see them all in the Champions League next season.
City were shit for the first half, then suddenly woke up and turned it into one of the most emotionally-draining endings to a nothing game that there could be. Good to take the momentum when coming out of a competition. Also got a belief that they can break teams down when all they want to do is defend. Although, that was never really in doubt at Eastlands.
Champions League draw:
Marseille v Bayern
Apoel Nicosia v Real Madrid
Benfica v Chelsea
AC Milan v Barcelona
(those are the pairings of matches for the semi-final too, fyi information)
Pocketmouse can talk about the Schalke game and someone else can do domestic stuff.
