Weekend Football Thread.
Could be quite a good weekend, with four of the Biggish Seven playing eachother. United will beat Chelsea, i'd have thought, probably by a goal, in a game we come away from talking about some dubious decicion or other. Arsenal have been struggling to score at home in the league and face Steve Kean's occasionally wonderful but largely turd Blackburn. The greatest team to grace the game since Hungary visited Wembley in '53 take their tika taka to the least inspiring home side in Britain.
Elsewhere, Norwich/Bolton could go either way, QPR should push Mick McCarthy closer to his P45 (sadly), Stoke v Sunderland might be shite, West Brom v Swansea will most likely end all square, Everton to bore Wigan's socks off and win 0-1, Newcastle v Villa may at least keep the watching public awake.
We've got Fulham at home. Given our home record over the last year, and their general form away, we ought to win. We're always piss-poor against them at home, however, winning only 2 of 10 since we gained promotion under Kenny Keegle. If we play well, should win by a couple. If we knock it around thirty yards from goal and defend like pub players, as we have been doing, then they have players who could possibly hurt us. I'll go for a slight win, Dempsey's on fire, we're not playing well and the way this season's gone so far nothing would surprise.
Arsenal 1 Blackburn 2
Norwich 1 Bolton 2
QPR 3 Wolves 1
Stoke 1 Sunderland 1
West Brom 1 Swansea 1
Wigan 0 Everton 1
City 2 Fulham 1
Newcastle 2 Villa 2
Chelsea 1 United 2
Liverpool 1 Spurs 1
Other notable fixtures include the AfCoN quarter finals, a thug-off as Millwall travel to West Ham, Hamburg v Bayern, the Brian Clough love-in that is Derby v perennial strugglers Notts Forest, Marseille v Lyon, Milan v Napoli, Fiorentina v Udinese, Atletico Madrid v Valencia and Fenerbahce v Besiktas.
