Where do you think people will go on holiday in 20 years' time?
They're talking about Libya being the new Ibiza, you know.. hell fire, if they're really unlucky it might turn into Benidorm with shisha pipes. One of the things which puts me off visiting North Africa or the Middle East is the lack of places to find a decent pint, if it's their law then I don't mind, but when I'm abroad in unfamiliar surroundings I really need a drink to help unwind in the morning or everything becomes too much. Interesting how the Balkans have bounced back from the wars and Croatia and Serbia are now the places to go for festivals.. if you like hanging around the Hollyoaks cast and Kings of Leon "after they were shit." It's better than ethnic cleansing, mind. People just do that on stag weekends in Tallinn, Prague, Bratislava etc - hey, let's take advantage of women who have been abused, underfed and treated as little more than slaves by people traffickers - but it's all a big laugh because they're white and European!
But will the classic British seaside resorts make a comeback? Or are they best left to Glaswegian tramps and women who make Babes of the BNP look like Christina Hendricks? I was just reminded of this because I'm sure I saw some 80s childrens' book the other day set in a cringingly stereotypical Northern steel town (it was called Slagton, I'm not making this up) who build a beach indoors. (again, I'm not making this up.)
