Thursday Gaming Thread
Well the biggest month in gaming, possibly ever, is sort of over as this generations consoles reach their peak and deliver the motherload.
This week, Halo Evolved, Saints Row 3, Assassins Creed Revelations, Rayman, MGS HD Collection and Zelda finish things off nicely.
If you're unemployed, single and an insomniac, then you may well have played Uncharted 3, BF3, Dark Souls, MW3, Skyrim, FIFA12, CM, Arkham City etc.
What were the highs and lows thus far? I'm guessing from the 70+ replies thread... Skyrim?
Also, with almost all of these titles now being loads better on PC allegedly, think we'll see an Xbox 720 or PS4 within the next year or so?

SUB-THREAD - Are games too long these days?
Remember how after FFVII came out, the whole industry became obsessed with RPG elements and made every game 30+ hours long? It felt like we moved away from that a few years later. Now things fall into two camps largely - short single player, all about multi or else 70 hours quests.
The minor criticisms I've read of Skyrim and Zelda both seem to suggest that they have several hours worth of recycled content and missions that get pretty samey.
I'm finding this too with Xenoblade Chronicles. Loads of the side quests involve exploring new areas, finding new menaces, earning new upgrades etc and are great, but almost each area starts with 4 token Monster Quests where you end up fighting these pointlessly pitiful enemies for next to no reward, just to improve relations within the team. I swear they could have lost all of them and shortened the game by 5 hours and everyone would have rejoiced.
Do you guys find this too in modern games?
Half of my favourite games ever have been over within 8 hours. Portal was done in under 2.

SIDE Note
If any of you love reading internet forums where the various console owning factions fight it out, then head over to Gamespot and check out the views on their 7.5/10 Zelda review. Kinda amusing / depressing / inevitable.
