NFL WEEK 10; THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!
My first attempt at this post accidentally got lost, good job it was about football or I'd never have done it again with the same enthusiasm.
So here we go, these threads will begin to feel the same "short week syndrome" facing San Diego and Oakland tonight, as we move into the business end of the season (i.e; Thursday night football). Tonight's matchup sees two teams from a division all trying to out-troll each other (with Kansas and Denver going at it on Sunday) in which no one wants to seem to win. It's highly possible it will go the same way of the NFC West last year, with perhaps San Diego going to the playoffs on an 8-8 season. You would like to think Phil Rivers has more in the tank than Carlson Palmer, but given the last couple weeks, who knows. This one may go to OT and with the same ridiculous special teams plays we saw last year when these two met.
Sunday sees plenty of intrigue, including New Orleans and Atlanta vying for the south, Pittsburgh and the surprise package Bengals trying to usurp the North, Bears look to take their momentum against freshly byed Detroit for 2nd place in the North, Giants taking on the Niners in a game with lots of playoff implications (and could quite possibly be a precursor) and the old rivals of the Jets in the Pats over in the East.
Predictions:
San Diego beat Oakland by 3, (maybe after OT)
New Orleans beat Atlanta by 7 (but only after both have scored about 30 points each)
Carolina beat Tennessee by 7
Pittsburgh beat Cincy by 3, after OT (this really could go either way but Pittsburgh just find ways of winning and will be out for blood)
St Louis beat Cleveland by 7
Dallas beat Buffalo by 7 (probably reasonably high scoring)
Jacksonville beat Indy by 6
Denver beat Kansas by 6 (Tebow does another mad comeback)
Miami beat Washington by 3, probably pretty low scoring
Houston beat Tampa by 7+
Baltimore beat Seattle by 7
Detroit beat Chicago by 4-5
I have absolutely no idea where Giants/Niners is going to go, which is what should make it so thrilling. They're both (perhaps overachieving) form teams. Maybe Niners home advantage will see them through but who knows, Eli is playing great football the now.
Jets/Pats will be equally tough to call, Jets have a good record at upsetting the already pretty upset Pats, but the Pats are good at handing people's asses to them when they get mad. Home advantage, defence, and form may see the Jets through though, as long as they try to pretend Sanchez isn't playing.
Pack should dominate Minnesota Monday night, winning by at least 7.
Cheers
