The Fifa - poppy controversy: Thoughts
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/15652356
Gives a brief overview of the issue (ignore that fact it is Newsbeat)
I'm at a loss as to why this is suddenly such a massive issue and has now involved the Prime Minister getting his two-penneth worth in. I don't remember poppies ever being worn on shirts before about 5 years ago. No one seemed that bothered before
Poppy wearing in this country in the last 10-15 years has become something that seems to be forced onto everyone (especially those in the public eye), regardless of whether you believe the cause is just or not.
Seems that the FA and our government are still miffed at losing the 2018 world cup, and this is just another excuse to rant at the perceived "injustices" of FIFA
The wearing of a poppy should be down to personal choice: what if a player doesn't happen to agree with the sentiment?
