Prince Charles secretly given right of veto over 12 government bills since 2005
It has emerged that the Prince of Wales has been given an opportunity to review and comment on, and potentially to veto altogether, a number of pieces of legislation on a broad range of issues over the last two parliaments.
This has not been part of the Royals' constitutional role offering advice and guidance, but rather a personal privelege to Charles and his interests. This power is applied when a bill might affect his own private affairs, particularly his £700m property empire.
Both the Government and the Prince's estate have refused to comment on whether he has requested any alterations to legislation on these grounds, or whether the Government would have acquiesced.
Well OK, we already new the pompous deluded old cretin sticks his oar into public policy areas where it isn't welcome, but this is a joke. The guy has the right to alter the laws of our country with the protection of his own personal wealth as the only justification, and we don't even have the right to know whether he has used this power or not?
It's a fucking disgrace.
